By the end of February 2010, Metro and Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties will make land use decisions that will determine the location of future urban growth in the Portland metro region. Over the past two years all four governments have worked with residents, officials and stakeholders from across the region to determine where cities will grow over the next 40 to 50 years and which lands will be off limits to urban growth for the next half century.
The Metro Council and county commissions will reach collective agreements on urban and rural reserves by the end of February 2010 and officially designate them later in the year. County and Metro officials ask your help in making these decisions. They invite you to view maps of proposed reserves and share your views online and at public open houses and Metro Council hearings in communities around the region in January.
